Overview
It has become evident over a period of time that the youth of our nation are in dire need of creative and meaningful interventions to stem the tide of misfortune which has been affecting our society and the world at large. It is therefore believed by some that it is necessary to implement programmes which cater to the development and empowerment of our youth, who are indeed the future of Jamaica.

Beulah Land Ministries International hereby proposes a youth empowerment programme called ICE – Information, Commitment, and Empowerment. This programme will aim at:
  • Providing a wide information database addressing topical youth-related issues where individuals will be able to easily access information on a variety of topics. Additionally, they will be able to submit and have their questions answered via electronic media if the database does not adequately address an individual’s topic of interest.
  • Instilling in the youth a sense of commitment to making a positive and meaningful impact on society, and to refrain from unhealthy lifestyle practices.
  • Facilitating the empowerment of young people to become productive citizens, good role models, and effective peer educators.

Rationale
Over the years it has been observed that youth in our society are in need of various avenues through which they might access information on pertinent topics relating to issues they face. Much of this type of information is available, but not necessarily accessible to the youth. Many are plagued with questions for which they are desirous of finding appropriate responses.

Regardless of the many and varied efforts to stem the tide of hopelessness, helplessness, and immorality in our nation, the scourge appears to have a never-ending flow; a fact that directly impacts subsequent generations. Increasingly, we see or hear of incidents which are strongly indicative that the young people of our nation are in dire need of guidance, lest our country shall have a bleak outlook.

It is the duty of every nation to engage in the molding of young minds. Our educational facilities exert much effort in the attempt to groom and train the youth. Nonetheless, it is evident that much is still lacking since the erosion of the moral fibre of our country appears to unravel faster than our educators can weave.

As the world plunges even further into the abyss of economic recession, our nation is still reeling from the effects of this dastardly phenomenon. Many of our children are now faced with even greater challenges than in previous years.

ICE wishes to inspire and equip them with information and access to resources, and various means of self-empowerment. ICE will provide valuable support for the youth of Jamaica as this innovative programme will function to inculcate a sense of commitment, responsibility, and civic pride as we seek to reclaim our children and heritage.
